FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • When do I need dentures?

Dentures are highly recommended when you have lost one or several teeth to prevent damage to your remaining teeth. Dentures can help with improving speaking, eating and provides support to the jaw bone.

  • How long do you have to wait to get dentures after your teeth are pulled?

You can have dentures immediately after your teeth extraction. Your dental prosthetist will create an impression of your gums before the extraction so it is ready for you.

  • Do I need a dentist referral for dentures?

No, you no longer need a dentist referral for dentures. You can speak to any dental prosthetist directly regarding you denture needs.

  • What should I do if my new denture doesn’t feel comfortable?

Any new denture will take time to get used to, which can usually take around 2 to 4 weeks. If after this period you are still experiencing discomfort, your prosthetist will inspect the fit and provide a relining if needed.

  • What causes teeth loss?

Plaque build up causes cavities to form and eat away at the enamel. It can also cause your gums to become inflamed and infected, which weakens the tissues supporting your teeth causing it to loosen and fall out. Maintaining good oral hygiene including regular brushing, flossing and check ups will prevent future teeth loss.
